People are wasting time after shows like MTV Roadies

I am not much of a television watcher(KBC is the only show I watch), but I have friends who are. And it is not unusual not to miss out on those shows which are surrounded by buzz all the time. And in this post I am going to talk about one such reality show which has gained so much hype among youngsters that thousands of young people actually have an aim to make it into the show. They conduct auditions all over India and people flock like there is a free lunch. You know what I am talking about, right? Yes. I am talking about MTV Roadies.

Roadies Chandigarh AuditionsSorry to disappoint those who thought I am going to write goodies about the show. I am not at all fond of it, in fact I would say that I hate the show. I believe it is one of the most unintelligent shows on T.V and is a waste of airtime. Many youngsters, no doubt, flock from far away places to audition for the show and perceive it to be their life’s aim. I pity such people as they have no idea how low their aim is. I read someone’s status update on facebook saying- “There are some people who say that being a ‘Roadie’ is the biggest thing in their lives. Those people are either stupid, or have no idea what life is.”. I could not agree more. People are squandering time, energy, money and are proud of it !

Now, I am a resident of Chandigarh and the Chandigarh auditions for Roadies were to happen today at Indradhanush Auditorium Panchkula(neighboring city). But I thought of going to visit the venue a day in advance. I went to the venue yesterday at 7 o clock in the evening. I was surprised to see around 50 youngsters literally sitting on footpaths by the roads with no lighting. They had already put their bags in que for the next day. I went up to three guys sitting on the footpath and shivering in cold. I asked “You guys are here for Roadies?”. “Yes we are”, one of them said.
“Are you prepared?”
“Yes, I have seen all the audition DVDs of all the former seasons. I have seen them, analysed them and made a strategy”(this brought to my mind that I hadn’t prepared that much even for my CAT exam)
“Where are you guys going to sleep”, I asked.
“We aren’t going to sleep. We are too excited. The whole world is here and nobody is going to sleep”.
“And food?”
“We brought some packed food with us”
“Where are you guys from?”
I was startled! One was from Dehradoon, another from Assam and the third one was from Rajasthan! They had traveled thousands of kilometers for the auditions and were ready to do it again for the auditions in other cities too! Watching so many youngsters sitting on roads at night, for something so unimportant was not a good sight. Many of them hadn’t even told their parents about their ‘quest’. The only people who were making merry were the hawkers selling ‘Orange Juice’, ‘peanuts’ and other junk food. They must have got to know in advance about the auditions.
After chatting with a few people there, I left, but to come back the next day.

Today I went to the venue again and I could see a crowd more in number than you would find at a political rally. I can assure you readers that not even 5 percent out of those would go to vote, citing the reason- “Line mein kaun kahada hoga itni garmi mein”. The girls were given direct entry into the building, so it was only the boys who I could see. The queue started from the building’s main gate and continues until it had covered 2-3 roads. And these people had a look of superiority on their faces. They had actually managed to secure a ‘not the last’ position in the queue. All kinds of people were present. Arrogant people, Rowdy people, wild people, good looking people, ‘those who think they are good looking’ people, perverted people etc. I heard that this was only the Group Discussion happening here. Interviews would happen later. The queues would remain till tonight.

roadies 2010 chd auditionsWTF !! These people obviously had nothing better to do. There was a sense of ‘losership’ in the air. The average IQ of the crowd might well give a 3 year old a complex. They think it is a big thing! They have no idea how useless this show can be. It’s format has nothing to do about being an adventurer or a tough one. It wants conspirators to boost TRPs. Dirty politics and obscenity are the pivotal features of the show. And I can easily get away by saying that the show is not going to teach anything good to the young generation. It is going to pollute their minds. We people who are appearing for MBA entrances and have been to good GD-PIs, have seen all kinds of GD-PIs. But the kinds these Roadies guys show is pure idiocy. Even the under talented judges speak foul with contestants. They are the worst GD-PIs anybody could ever conduct.
People try year after year to get into the show, but in vain. This whole time wasted, if channelized into something constructive would not only pay them off later, but also help the country. But getting into this show and even winning it would land you up as the dumb side-kick of even the hero’s side-kick(that too if you are lucky enough). And the show is not even real. I know of a family which had an approach in the channel. One sibling was put into splitsvilla and the other was put into Roadies. So a part of this thing is a sham.

Indian youth needs to understand their priorities and sort them. They should not run after fifteen minutes ofย  fame. They should work hard and help the country progress. I hope these people come back to their senses soon.

You do injustice to Rakhi Sawant and hosts of “Axe ur EX” How dare u suggest that Roadies is the most stupidest show… It is only a close contender and one amongst many such inanely stupid shows…

And yah I too feel that the collective IQ of all the contestants on these show would be -1 ๐Ÿ˜€

and seriuosly in queue for two days… shame that these people dont apply themselves to serious studies and for the general good of the nation!

Thank You Aashish for reading it all. I am sorry I missed out the other shows you mentioned. Those are so lame that I actually forgot they were on air ๐Ÿ˜€
UTV Bindaas has shows like ‘Emotional Atyachaar’, ‘Dadagiri’, ‘Big Switch’. Colors has ‘Big Boss’. Channel V has ‘Dare to Date’, ‘Love Truth Money’, MTV has ‘Roadies’, ‘Splitsvilla’ and more… These are not just shows.. They are, in a way, criminal offense in society. These shows make me puke !! ๐Ÿ˜€
